Huntsville area sees more than $65 million in new building permits since July 29

The latest weekly permit data show the Huntsville area issuing permits totaling just over $65 million across Madison, Morgan, and Limestone counties. The activity highlights a mix of hospitality, religious, retail, and service projects as builders respond to steady demand in the region.

Overview of the permit activity

Across the three counties, a number of projects are breaking the million-dollar mark. Seven projects in the Huntsville area are slated to exceed $1 million in value, underscoring the scale of recent work. statewide, six of 16 new building permits for million-dollar-plus projects are located in Huntsville, illustrating the concentration of larger developments in the city. Top project: Grace Community Church expansion

The most expensive project on the current list is the Grace Community Church expansion in Huntsville, valued at $3.3 million. The expansion includes a new Children’s Ministry Wing and is scheduled for completion by October 2026.

LivSmart extended-stay hotel project

Another major addition is a new extended-stay hotel on Cabela Drive near Bridge Street Town Centre and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. The permit for this hotel amounts to $12.4 million, and the property is branded as LivSmart, designed to serve guests staying 10 nights or more with a range of onsite amenities.

Gas station and multi-tenant commercial building

A separate project on County Line Road carries a permit of $1.8 million for a gas station and multi-tenant commercial building. The development includes a 2,000-square-foot gas station, a 12,517-square-foot commercial building, and 86 parking spaces spread over 2.69 acres. Premier Structures is listed as the lead contractor and owner of the gas station property.
